OUR MISSION

"We believe that the goal of St Paul's Orthodox Youth Society (SPOYS) is the integration of each young person fully into the total life of our congregation. We believe that Orthodox Christians must commit themselves to living the Orthodox Faith daily through worship, witness, service and fellowship. SPOYS strives to create a sense of belonging among the youth of our congregation. It is through theological, social and sport activities that we work together to maintain one of the church's most important assets."
 

WHAT'S ON

CHRISTMAS FISHING TRIP & BBQ
We will be having a fishing trip and BBQ on Saturday 13th December. A time is yet to be confirmed depending on weather but all that would like to attend need to RSVP via email or phone by Saturday 6th December. The location of the trip and BBQ will be at: Landsborough Ave, Scarborough, REDCLIFFE, 4020. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

SOCCER!!
Our next sports activity has been planned for Sunday 29th November straight after church. There will be a soccer match against each other with some training from our resident soccer champion: Danny Awabdi. We'll play on the oval behind the church with those of ALL ages and ALL skill levels are encouraged to participate. I encourage you to attend as it will be a great way to brush up on your soccer skills and will be followed by lunch (volunteers please contact me).

FORTNIGHTLY BIBLE STUDIES NOW ON SATURDAY NIGHTS
Fortnightly bible studies are now held on Saturday nights at 6:45pm after our fortnightly Vespers at 6pm - the next Vespers and bible study will be 29th November 2008. I would like to urge everyone to come to these bible studies because we learn so much from Father James and the amazing guest speakers that David invites.

SPOYS HAFLI
Our annual hafli has been booked in for Saturday 21st February 2008. It will be a big night for our group and all are invited to attend. All tickets must be pre-purchased by contacting us.

MONTHLY YOUTH COMMITTEE MEETING
Monthly youth committee meetings will now be held on the first Sunday of every month with the next one scheduled for the 7th December 2008 at 7pm. The meeting has been pushed a week forward due to exams. The meeting will not go for longer than 2hrs and ALL youth are invited to attend.

WEEKLY CHOIR PRACTICE
Weekly choir practice is held every week immediate after Sunday Liturgy upstairs in the church. This practice is for approximately 15-20 minutes and is a great opportunity to learn the hymns of our church.
